70 amateur musicians to perform 15 songs from TV anime series at 'Walpurgis no Yoru no Yume' concert

A Puella Magi Madoka Magica-themed orchestral concert will be held at the Ichō Hall at the Hachioji City Art & Cultural Hall in Tokyo on April 6. A symphony of approximately 70 amateur musicians under the name "Walpurgis Night/Die Walpurgisnacht Symphoniker" will perform the concert.

The orchestra is not directly affiliated with the anime series, but it has received consent for the concert from Sony Music Publishing, and is complying with Nitroplus' derivative work guidelines as well as all Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) formalities.

The "Walpurgis no Yoru no Yume" (The Dream of the Walpurgis Night) concert will feature 15 songs from the television anime series, including the theme songs for all five main characters, which have been arranged for the orchestra.

Tickets to the concert will be free, and will be given out starting at 10:00 a.m. on the day of the concert. The concert itself will start at 5:30 p.m. Kenichi Shimura will conduct the orchestra and MIZ will be the concert mistress. Shimura in the past has conducted for the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, Saint Petersburg Academic Symphony Orchestra, and Tokyo New City Orchestra.

I think the last time Yuki's music was rearranged by an orchestra was Anna ni Issho Datta no ni, right?

Oh so it WILL happen ? :sohappy: I had heard they were organising it some months ago and that it be perfrmed by volounteering musicians :confu:

Actually, there was orchestral performance of a song of storm and fire in eminence's album but they werent using the original lyrics ( just aaaa, aah) and also when Kalafina gone to Boston there was some orchestal opening to their concert.

Themes for the characters :confu: lets see,
Madoka = Sis puella magica!, Homura = Salve terrae magicae, Mami = Credens justitiam , Sayaka = Decretum... missing 1, maybe there's some new BGM from the movies ?

^ Also the Tsubasa Chronicles Symphonic Suite from Eminence Orchestra's "A Night in Fantasia 2009 - The Ultimate Games & Anime Experience" double CD.

Ah... guess I just can't get over "The Song - Anna ni Issho" :desksweat:

I'm somehow intrigued by the orchestra that is named as "Walpurgis Night/Die Walpurgisnacht Symphoniker." Is the term Symphoniker German?

I want to hear their rendition of Mami's theme. :ayashii:
^ Wait george, Kyouko does not have a theme music?

I cant think of what could be Kyouko's theme, also missing Kyuubeys.

Wow I didnt know about this arrangement, thanks a million!

I visited the site of the orchestra, and it seems that they held auditions for additional recruitment. They are still accepting recruits for the waiting list though. Calling @Liana :XD:

But WTH... Participation fee is ¥ 28,000 (¥ 25,000 for students) :blood:

^ Of course, where do you think they find the money to allow the concert to be Free for the audience? They have to get the money from somewhere else, and since it would be a honor for every guy that plays violin to perform in front of audience his favourite animu music... :gimmeh:
:XD:

Wasn't there that Hanae track that played in the movie?
Because yeah, the closest I can recall to Kyouko's theme in the TV series is Confessio, and there's not much stuff for an orchestra to work with. :XD:
