KPop Demon Hunters

I thought it was kpop version of Demon Slayer based on the title lol. Also a bit corporation looking down on good music is nothing new, it happens all the time cause what they like to promote and sell is music that most people like cause it means 💰💰.

I saw somewhere a small performance of the original singers and even they had to take it half a step down, so this is quite a feat
Interesting.

I would expect that Ejae can hit those notes with her falsetto (if head voice is not developed) just like Laco did. The key challenge is to do it with a mix belt or at least a focused/concentrated head voice that isn't too classical sounding. Of course most proper classically-trained soprano singers can hit it in head voice with power.

Singers I am confident can hit those notes with their heady mix: Tori Kelly, Sohyang.

There you go, it was a new Saturday Night Live skit https://www.tiktok.com/@nbcsnl/video/7557628810170993951

The highest note in the Huntrix song "Golden" from the KPop Demon Hunters movie is A5. This note is known for being particularly challenging to hit, especially in a pop vocal context, and it's a standout moment in the song that showcases the vocal prowess of the performers—Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, who voice the fictional K-pop trio Huntr/x.

Yeah, a semitone down it sounded like.

Funny! It brought the energy down a bit for everything surrounding Ejae's voice. There was also the effect on the voice to match the original.
This is why i don't like going down a semitone many times. I guess it's that major to minor effect so suddenly everything sounds like evil mirror universesque.

Apparently they had a performance for Thanksgiving https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fjo_q0-krw0
I feel like they're on a bit of a rollercoaster, especially Ejae.

She's not been a performer for so long and is so much more comfortable with the creative aspect at the background. The record-breaking success of KDH and the need to be a representative of the Korean-American community and the show means she needs to be out there more.

Also because the songs she sang were recorded at the limits of her vocal range and so are difficult to perform live (especially "Golden") so there's that added pressure to actually deliver.

This 2025 Macys Thanksgiving Parade Performance - NBC LIVE was lip-synced of course, as is usually done for live TV shows. You can see the movements from the other two ladies does not reflect the vocal. Anyway, that's industry standard for live artist performances, so we can't completely blame them for that.

I would prefer to hear an acappella performance, even if it was at a much slower tempo and shifted down sufficiently to be comfortable - different genre, even.
