Hmm...I don't know should I be happy or worried that they added string quartet... String quartet is very sensitive in live performances.. (I mean..a very little mistake can make the performance sounds bad...and even professional string quartets usually have little mistakes here and there in their live perf.) I'd less worry if they add them in a live perf. with more stable vocalists..(well..in this case, I mean FJ&their guests...) but I doubt for Kalafina.....
Well....Kalafina live in X'mas+FJ event in early Jan....if Japan is as easy to enter as Korea or China...I'd be bankrupt now....

I really like this idea. A 'strings' arrangement won't work well for all their songs of course, but going on experience of other artists' live shows I think it'll be refreshing.
I hope there'll be a recording of the performance too...I reckon hearing familiar tunes played in a slightly different way will make me appreciate them in a new light.

^ dont think the will do strings arrangement, rather than performing that songs that already have one, like Magia [quattro], sprinter, seventh heaven, symphonia, red moon, Yami no Uta, and possibly Hikari Furu (since its going to be for a movie). But if they do, Lacrimosa and Matta Kaze ga tsuyoku natta would be epic with strings

I could see how they could adapt some of the more rock-ish songs for strings/piano with some creative arranging. At the very least, they could slow 'em down and turn it into a sweet ballad but even an uptempo "sprinter" can work with just strings and piano if you approach it from the right angle.

But isn't it gonna ruin the flow and the mood of the song? Looking at Kalafina's previous Christmas live, which is acoustic, they didn't bother to re-arrange most upbeat songs into acoustic arrangement, and settle with the easier ones. sprinter is the only exception, but personally I can see sprinter in acoustic. Mata Kaze and Magia, for example, I totally can't see it. After all, it's Christmas Live. They most likely will settle with their slower and "prettier" songs, like their previous Christmas lives.

I hope they do arrangements for songs that originally would not fit with strings or piano, that would be pretty interesting, although of course it could go horribly wrong too.
I wonder how many strings there will be, because string quartet + piano + 3 voices seems to be a strange balance. An orchestra would be nice, yes an orchestra... (delusional fantasy mode)
I do hope they record it, Sony loves sucking money from fans (Hikari Furu has 4 different editions orz) and many fans would no doubt buy the DVD.

Oh, I hope they cover some nice Christmas songs too Still wishing we could see Silent Night and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
