Nice find ninetales! Interesting interview... does provide a few interesting insights from Yuki-さん's artistic viewpoint.
Was bored this National Day afternoon, so just felt like trying my hand at some translating...
I only translated from the
subtitles themselves,
NOT the audio (as I do not understand Japanese
), and my own Chinese is actually pretty horrendous, so if anyone has any corrections/superior translation feel free to correct/better me. I'm all ready to edit/delete mine.
Of course, any questions about the following, feel free to ask. I'll
try to answer any and all queries.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
Notes:
- Subtitles were translated line by line; where a scene has 2 lines of subs, there're 2 lines of trans.
- Capital letters, other than being at the obvious places, start new lines.
- Stuff in ( ) were added by me, for a variety of reasons... =P
- Any occurence of "world" in this translation refers solely to that which SH portrays/seeks to portray in their work.
- I did my bestest. =X
(Yuki-さん starts...)
When I first had the pleasure of listening to SH's music
I was first infected by the melody, overall it's (by) the melody
(That) SH's work constructs a vast、mighty world
If in that world, there exists only a shallow and monotonous melody (laughs)
No one will be interested
In order to build such a mighty worldview
There needs a melody that can match this world
Only thus, will a listener's ear and heart
Be completely conquered by this world (
)
This is indeed personal impression
Mr. Revo isn't actually
anal insistent about producing "new" music
In other words what's being sought after isn't purely what's "new"
Rather (it is) how to better transmit (Revo's world/intentions) to every single person
Therefore what's most important is definitely not merely "new"
In order to better present the melody to everyone
Employing majestic melody is certainly particularly meaningful
Maybe this is what Mr. Revo truly upholds
There is yearning for majesty
And for uniqueness to be displayed where something fresh is needed (this line's hardest for me among all... might not even be right...
)
To release the melody, and by various means its mood also
I have experienced that deeply, and can understand it very much
Regarding "death", it is there ultimately in order to present "life"
If one wanted to depict "life" thoroughly
It would still end with a return to "death"
The world of SH
I personally consider the vivid portrayal of life to be its purpose
The result of which, will be a return to the portrayal of death
Therefore it is a music which "in order to narrate the acme of life has no choice but to fully depict death"
(Fades out to scary music)
