In case some of you haven't heard yet, the Japanese Yen has spiked overnight on Wednesday. It has since regained a bit of composure but is now still hovering at pretty steep/unprecedented levels not seen in the last 5 years.

Translated, it now costs more for us to consume Japanese goods.

Anyone affected so far?

I think those who shop regularly from places like CDJapan and JBox will be.

What gets my goat now would be the processing/shipping fees and taxes as they are calculated in JPY (esp. if your choice of carrier is something like FedEx).

Japanese goods were already expensive even before this price hike :( Sigh... it makes sense.

Oh, man... That is awful...

Things were expensive and now are more expensive than ever.

I think it's time to stop purchasing stuff from CDJapan and save some money.

What about the orders made before the earthquake? They will cost more too?

I wouldn't say that. There are alternatives to CDJapan. But I realised that CDJapan often gives better extras.

Always a bit of a give and take, I suppose. Besides, currency fluctuations are the norm. What I showed earlier was the only exception, though.

Actually, I have to save money. Spent too much on CDJapan this year... I'm really broke :uh..:

Today was the first time that I've seen CD Japan's exchange rate conversion actually made 100 yen less than one dollar Australian.
