^ lol sorry it's kind of hard to explain, so I shall try to clarify
When Keiko or Hikaru harmonise I usually can't really 'hear' them or distinguish what they're singing, I can just sort of hear that they're 'there' somewhere.
For Wakana it's a bit different - but I should probably mention first that I only notice it when she sings a higher harmony part using a certain tone that's really resonant (I can't describe it well, sorry >< it sounds a bit like her normal voice when she sings high notes, but a bit thinner and clearer) I'll try to use an analogy: when Hikaru/Keiko harmonise, it kind of sounds to me like if the main melody was being played on the piano, and the harmony was also played on the piano (they blend almost seamlessly, right?).
But sometimes (when Wakana uses that certain voice) it sounds to me like if the main melody was played on the piano but the harmony was played on the violin - it still harmonises nicely, but the two sound distinct from one another, and you can tell them apart...
That said, it's not always that I get that feeling - the few times when I've heard Wakana sing lower harmony she sounds like Hikaru or Keiko would, and when she uses falsetto (or head voice? or whatever you call it
) in higher harmonising (like Yuriko does, I guess) she doesn't jump out as much either. But it's only when she uses that certain voice. I think for example, I hear it in magnolia (harmonising on top of Hikaru), fantasia, and a few places in other songs that I can't remember off the top of my head at the moment..
But that's just me, so not everyone might think this
But I agree with murrue in that I prefer Wakana on lead vocals even though I have no problems with her harmonising
Her voice seems to just stand out more, especially on high notes (though the loudest of them overall is still Hikaru, I think…)
I always liked Hikaru/Keiko harmony but recently I've come to like Wakana/Hikaru too. It doesn't sound as rich as Wakana/Keiko but it still has quite a warm sound to it. Hikaru's voice fits snugly with other singers when she harmonises, I think
