Cosplay help.

I want to start cosplaying! :D but i dont know anything about cosplaying that much. i dont know where to start or how to do the costumes. so i was wondering if you guys can give me tips or anything really(i know its best to make them home made but i dont know what to use like is there any special fabric). so please help me arigato

i was cosplayer too but never be a 'real' cosplayer that use wig, thick make-up and many other cosplayers' equipment.
i often wear fluffy and lacy dress or skirt, or seifuku too, even in normal occasion (when people usually use jeans and t-shirts) and people said i am weird.
but that's the point. if you aren't brave enough to show to 'normal' people "I am cosplayer!" then you aren't really cosplaying~

for that special fabric, do you mean that thick black stereofoam? that thick stereofoam is used for make armor (or that's what my senpai said to me) --- are you going to cosplay with armor? wow, sugoii~

eeeeeeeeeeee really? nee sugooiiiiii....
armors are hot, sweaty, and heavy usually boys are the armor cosplayers, or maybe just here?
to glue them, you may need special glue too (my senpai uses glue for woods), and thick wires too (to hold the stereofoams in shapes we want).
then don't forget to 'divide' (???) armor into parts mostly in elbow and knee so you can move easier.

i dunno much about armor but lots of my senpai know it, i'll ask them more if i met them (only if i met them...)
and i think youtube has some of tutorial armor costume.
