It's pretty good. Nice rendition with a good improv. Certainly enjoyed it! Thanks for posting! :sohappy:

Although I'm not too sure if it's the violinist using a little too much legato in her bowing or your recording techniques (not enough on the attack transient side of things - although this was fine with the guitar side). The piece would sound better if the violin solo had a bit more discrete notes and not sound so "gluey". If you are using a different mic for the violin, do go easy on the high cut filter for your next cover. The differences are kinda obvious.

It might be a combination of the two. This was actually my first time ever recording a violin so I kind of improvised on mic placement and arrangement (my mentor had all sorts of tips as well after he heard this mix). There was also the fact that this was the first Yuki Kajiura song that my partner heard and the sheet music was pretty sparse on dynamics so I think she chose to play it safe.

But thanks again for the feedback. I'll definitely keep this in mind.

I actually like it that way :innocent: I think a more flowing style like that gives it the mood of a folk song, which is what the guitar already sounds like. (At least to me.)

I can hear a slight difference between the violin and guitar recording quality, but it doesn't affect the performance for me :dote:

this is a beautiful cover.great job.though the style and tune was like a new arrangement for me - (the guitar and violin),it defines you and your partner.i really like it. i hope you could cover i talk to the rain next time 67.gif

Ah...interesting. Well, I've got to agree with you about the sheet music, though. It's quite open to each musician's personal interpretation, since it's very, very sparse (which will be very unnerving to classically-trained musicians, esp.).

Yeah, I think it might be differences in our interpretations of the piece. :XD:

Personally, I think "Canta per Me" works best with a more staccato/punchy feel so that it doesn't conflict with the BGM portion (which gives the song rhythm, pace, ambience and timing - esp. since this piece is overall dark and melancholic).

That said, some leeway can be allowed in the refrain and solo improv. sections, though (to fit in with the lyrical/Romantic theme of the piece). Although one really has to watch out to prevent against an overuse of vibrato in these parts.

But I've to admit, this is very very good stuff (fancovers wise), esp. considering it's TS's first shot. Well done!

i really love your guitar playing! looking forward to future covers :)
