R.I.P. Steve, your contributions to consumer technology have certainly shaped our world in more ways than we could imagine. Your spirit serves as an inspiration for all of us; one that we can only aspire to emulate.

I just heard that too. AOTS on G4 had the news. It is sad.

The news is breaking everywhere, it seems. Not just the tech world is shaken, but almost every form of mainstream media are reporting on the subject too.

It is a very sad day for most of us, considering that the very fact we are able to sit here and communicate with each other is due in part to his contributions to the consumer tech world.

I really wonder how long would we have to wait before another such visionary comes along and shakes the industry (as well as the world) up again.

UPDATE 1: Twitter has crashed following excessive traffic from retweets.

UPDATE 2: Apple Stores to turn off the lights in the Apple logo company-wide today.

Its so tragic to lose such a technological visionary at such a young age at that. Pancreatic cancer is a terrible affliction...it reminds me of Patrick Swayze

^ Agreed.

I saw a status about this on Facebook and thought they were joking, but after some searching, I found out it was true. I was shocked, to put it mildly.

RIP.

The announcement came as a surprise to me. I knew he stepped down for his health, but I thought he would be around a bit longer.

People are having a very interesting discussion on my FB about his merits and achievements. Regardless of anyone's personal opinions, though, it's difficult to imagine Apple without him.

I was really shocked when I found out. May he rest in peace.

Not just Apple; but the tech world in general. Too much of his contributions to consumer tech have fallen under the radar and out of sight.

Fonts, icons and the mouse are just some of them.

Basically, we won't be where we are today without his contributions.

I was a bit surprised to find such a thread here, but well, considering the number of his fans...

Rest in peace Steve, you fought as long as you could but this awful decease took you with it. But now there's no more pain left for you.

Damn, another prodigy taken away by cancer. This illness begins to look on par with, if not worse than, AIDS in my eyes. :uh..: :uh..: :uh..:

but well, considering the number of his fans...

It's not even limited to fans. I heard a very apt saying yesterday: "The biggest mark of his success is that millions of people read the news of his death from the screens of the devices he created".

RIP, the man who helped shape today's world. :leaf:

:XD:
Normally, someone's recent death is not a subject for joke pics, but this particular one is rather heartwarming in a pensive way... :TdT:

although I heard Jobs was buried by a Buddhist ritual, which makes this pic a kind of wall banger... oh well. :desksweat: :XD:
