There was a configuration issue that messed site access up for ISPs with IPv6 support. The fix is working its way through DNS.

This should be fixed. It might require an f5 to pull the updated script. Hmm. #2 is probably default permissions on created rooms. #1 might be server settings. I'll look into both as time permits.

Will be installing another chat server - openfire - instead of the one we've been using, prosody. Chat will be down until it isn't. (note: openfire was my earlier choice, but previous server restrictions forced me to pick another option)

So I have not figured out yet what y'all are doing to break chat, but you all certainly are doing the wrong thing to get it back to a working state. 0. you notice the message you just sent is not showing up. 1. hit F5. This should force-reload the page. 2. If you see your message, all is well...

And - why did they call this 2.0 - OK Chat IS now on a new server. Login does not work, so the link has been removed. https://chat.canta-per-me.net/new/ is the now broken and future version, supposing bugs get fixed.

The upgrade to Candy Chat 2.0.0 almost went well. I'm seeking help on the errors that remain. ( No, reverting will not fix this, unfortunately. Chat has also moved to a different server. )

There will be a disruption of service in chat. How long, I'm not sure yet.

It should be happening when the chat window isn't the active one. I.E., you're browsing in another tab or another window. So of course you won't get a notification sound from your own messages, as the chat window has to be active when you send them.

Moderators will see exactly the same interfaces. Just the automated checks are done by different services. We'll have to see if other conditions improve.

Switched forum spam filtering to Cleantalk (from Akismet) Main blog has been doing pretty well with this service, hopefully the forum does well too. Might also improve the blocking situation.

Unfortunately, the way operating systems are set up to prefer IPv4, and the spammer-banning techniques availablem there is a possibility that legitimate users will be caught up in temporary automatic spam-handling methods. To turn these off would mean more work than moderators could handle. I...
